Michael Moore is most know for his movies Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 911 probably, but his books are also quite well-known. And it's not just bush-bashing, both major US parties are critisized.
Political books. Something I haven't read much so far, even though I definitely have an interest in politics. Books about politics are thought to be boring though. Well, not Micheal Moore of course! A good place to start reading about politics, that's for sure. Whether he means it or not, his extreme opinion on some issues does get his point across. The way he brings information makes you laugh, but when you start thinking about what he's actually saying, your smile won't stay for long. Moore backs up his opinions and ideas with quite shocking facts, for instance on how Bush stole the elections, how the US schools are poorly funded but negative results blamed on the teachers, or how – contrary to general beliefs – Clinton was actually nearly as bad as Bush is now. And so this book leaves you with this double feeling. One the one hand, you have thoroughly enjoyed the book, and had quite a few good laughs, but on the other hand, you have this uneasy feeling about “the state of the union. I am happy I am not from the USA, though I am sure things are not as they should be here in The Netherlands. But at least we have a bit more choice in who we vote for, and there is no known big stolen election yet. At least not in recent history. Definitely a great book, recommended reading!
