Hey, what's this?
Left on the Web has changed software and layout. A small explanation.
You might notice that something has changed here. Actually, quite a lot has changed. I've moved from
Pivot to
Textpattern, and in the process I obviously also moved to a whole different design. I'm now using the default installation of
Green Marinee, though I am planning on changing some stuff in the near future to make it more to my liking. But even the basics are already to my liking

Why did I move away from Pivot? Good question. First of all, because I like to try different CMS'es and weblog packages. Textpattern also seems to me to be a more complete CMS, which makes it easier to expand this site in the future. And last but not least, I recently had a problem with Pivot which caused me to temporarily panic as I thought I had lost all but three posts. It ended up being solved easily (by rebuilding the index file) but I thought to be on a slightly more safe side by moving to a MySQL based software package.
We'll see how it works out. I definately have the idea that this move isn't a bad one.

Pos3idon: Like I said textpattern is better then pivot

cheers m8
zeroK: Too bad, that I can’t get the importer to work properly, but I’m still not totally unhappy with WP, so I will probably not move over yet to Txp
left: I suspect that TXP’s section system would be quite suitable for your review-stuff though
Maybe time to spend some time on that converter … it shouldn’t be too hard, I wrote the pivot->txp converter in a single evening.
mediocre: I will have to get used to this one. I didn’t noticed I was only looking at a preview of what I typed, so my comment before this was lost ;^)
Also, I have to say that making an email address compulsory isn’t really my thing. And I think I know it isn’t yours too.
Lastly, I think the contrast in the comment boxes could be a little higher; what with the sun shining in my monitor and all.
Just take these remarks and do anything with them that you want (not that! ;^)
But most of all: it’s looking good!
left: well, the e-mail address isn’t shown anywhere in the reply, so I don’t think it’s bad that it requires an e-mail address. I need to think about making that optional.
mediocre: Yeah, but the field wasn’t marked as compulsory, so I left it open. When I tried to publish my comment I was sent back.
Also, I only noticed the address wasn’t shown after I published my remark, which would might stop people from commenting altogether.
left: so how’s this? I just changed some stuff
Marco: Hmmm… a MySQL database can become corrupt/trashes just as well as the Pivot database. Making backups is always a necessity.
Personally, if I were to change blogs from Pivot my only true contender in the race would be WordPress… I’ve been hacking it for two weeks now to port some Pivot plugins and I must admit it really rocks!
