Looking back at 2007 a bit

Looking back on the past year, some very important things happened in my life that actually changed my life bigtime. But it's all been good. I'm looking back at the passed year.

PHP is not the best thing in the world

As the title says: PHP is not the best thing in the world. Neither is symfony the best framework in the world. Neither is any other language or framework by the way. But all have their ups and their downs. So we better learn from eachother.

Namespaces in PHP

Namespaces in PHP seems to be the current hot topic. A lot of people want it, a lot of people don't. Let me through in yet another opinion.

Zend PHP5 Certified

I've wanted to do this for a while, and now I finally was able to do it. As of today, I may call myself a Zend certified PHP5 developer.

Symfony sprint

On december 20, the symfony team organizes a symfony sprint : A full day of work on just symfony. From fixing bugs to getting the documentation up to speed. And I will also be working on symfony that day, helping out with this symfony sprint.

Tip: use clearly readable variable names, and constants!

Yes, you know what code you write and you also know how it works. You can find your way around it. But what if you haven't touched a piece of code for months or even years. Or what if someone else needs to work with your code. Prevent a hell: use clearly readable variable names and constants.

PHP Abstract: The PHP Podcast

I have never been a big fan of podcasts; the "radio" type podcasts have no use since I don't listen to radio because I get annoyed by people talking through music. The spoken podcasts usually didn't really get my interest. Meet PHP Abstract , the podcast that I actually do like.
